How I Moved To A Red State

Hey Everybody,

We hear a lot of talk about how the country is Balkanizing and how Republicans should move to a red state if they can. I highly recommend it, but I understand this is not easy, so I wanted to share with you how I was able to do it. I moved from Michigan to Florida in March of 2021. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Here’s how I did it.

First, I was single and had no kids. Obviously this makes things much easier. But I still had family and a lot of friends in Michigan. That is where I was born and raised. I’m a die hard fan of all the Detroit sport teams. I had spent many years building up my network and trying to start a real estate business there. So it wasn’t that easy.

Second, I had a job lined up. I was very fortunate that one of my best friends started his own real estate development business around 2016. His business was expanding and he wanted me to help him grow. But again, this wasn’t necessarily an easy decision. I still had to start building a business all over again from scratch.

Third, I had faith. This wasn’t just belief in myself. I’m a Christian guy, and I believe God was directing my steps. I believe God put it in my heart and gave me peace about moving. Sure it was scary. There were a lot of unknowns. I didn’t know exactly how things would go, how long it would take to make my first sale, if I would make new friends, etc. But when you know God as your Provider, that is the x factor that gave me the confidence I needed to move forward.

At the time I’m writing this, some are saying if your state hasn’t become red after the 2022 midterms, then it’s gone. Get out. Some say things just haven’t gotten bad enough yet. Some say bloom where you’re planted. Some say get out while you can. I’m not sure. I wouldn’t want to give up hope completely, but it is definitely an extremely uphill battle in some blue states right now. If you have the stomach for it and want to stick it out, God bless ya. If you think you’d prefer to move where you are surrounded by more like minded people and principles you agree with, I don’t blame you. I don’t think it’s a one size fits all type deal. Each person will have to determine how much they can take and weigh the costs. All I would say is just make to talk to God and include him in your decision.

Having faith in God was the difference maker that allowed me to take the first step. You’re never going to feel 100% comfortable with moving to a new state. There is a scripture in Colossians 3:15 that I always go to when making tough decisions in life. It says let the peace of God rule in your hearts. It speaks to letting peace rule like an umpire would in baseball. Many times in life, you have to make decisions in a certain time period, like an umpire does. Umpires can’t say give me another 5 minutes to make my call. They have to make a decision and go with it. So if you’re considering making a move, I would encourage you to pray about it. If you’ve done your research and you have peace about it, go for it and don’t look back. It’ll be a good long term decision. You’ll thank yourself down the road and your family will as well. It’ll be a lot of fun watching how God works in your life. Wish you all the best either way. God bless. Thanks for stopping by.
